NEW PROJECT IN NEW LANARK!
Real Studios is delighted to have been appointed to design and deliver two exhibitions for New Lanark World Heritage Site – a permanent exhibition on the unique ‘Museum Stair’, preserved within one of the original tenement blocks, and a temporary exhibition on the building skills involved in the town’s original construction and subsequent restoration.
When David Dale chose the riverside site for his new cotton-mills in 1785, commuting to work was an unknown concept. Under the ownership of his son-in-law Robert Owen, a Welsh philanthropist and social reformer, New Lanark became an early example of a successful planned settlement.
Our scheme will enable visitors to imagine life in the ‘Stair’, over a period of almost 200 years, through an immersive recreation of the now fragile spaces, where over 1,500 people once lived.
